St. Paul math educator is Minnesota Teacher of the Year

Elevate Teaching would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Michael Houston, the 2023 Teacher of the Year in Minnesota!

As educators ourselves, we know that teaching is a demanding and often underappreciated profession. That's why it's so important to recognize teachers who go above and beyond to inspire their students and make a positive impact in their communities. Michael Houston is one of those exceptional teachers.

Houston has taught math at Harding, located on St. Paul’s East Side, for 19 years. For 18 of those years, he also served as football coach. He’d previously been a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 2017. This year, he was nominated by a student. He has a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping his students succeed, both academically and personally. We at Elevate Teaching are thrilled to see Micheal Houston receive this well-deserved honor.
