Minnesota STEM Project and Elevate Teaching at The 2024 Diversity in STEM Education Summit held in New Orleans

On February 24th, Elevate Teaching joined a group of STEM education leaders who led a kickoff event for a campaign to increase interest in becoming teachers of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics for K-12 schools, especially those from communities of color and American Indian communities. The event was attended by STEM teachers and youth interested in STEM careers.  The Minnesota STEM Project leverages the Elevate Teaching movement to use the message framework and champion toolkit to shift how we talk about, view, and relate to the STEM teaching profession.

The Minnesota STEM Project received technical training and support from the Smithsonian Science Education Center to plan this campaign and was one of 20 recipients in 2023 to attend The Diversity in STEM Education Summit held in New Orleans.  The Minnesota STEM Project team members are: Dr. Rose Chu, John Olson, Dr. Angela Osuji, Lyle Dandridge and Kayla Swanson. 

We welcome opportunities to present and share, connections to Grow-Your-Own programs, and opportunities to create space for STEM teachers, especially STEM teachers of color.

Free Tickets are available and include access to the Race Exhibition at the Science Museum afterward.
