South Central Minnesota students share about the impact of teachers

“Most teachers are in it because of their genuine love for the career and their students. Some of the things that teachers speak highly of when talking about their job is, the kids, the rewards of seeing students succeed, and the benefits.”

“I have the opinion that teachers are some of the most impactful role models in a student's life. Some of the best teachers in my experience are understanding, empathetic, and mentors to their students.”

“I have a positive impression because I have had amazing educators and mentors. I hope to give someone else the same experience I have had.

At face value all students see is grading papers and having to deal with students all day, but a closer look will reveal the creative lesson a teacher gets to make and the activities that will keep everyone engaged in learning. When making lesson plans the teacher has to think about how to accommodate the different learning types and adapt a lesson plan to that learning type. Teachers also provide important mentorship that helps shape the next generation.”

“Teaching is a very important and needed profession. During COVID, more people appreciated teachers than before because parents experienced how difficult teaching kids can be. On the other hand, watching my mom spend hours and hours extra working and making lesson plans to inspire students, I have seen the effort that teachers put towards their work.”
